When the global pandemic hit Finland, all major public events were cancelled all around the country. JCI Finland wanted to offer something to do during these unprecedented times: an international public online training event, Togethernet 24h, gathered thousands of people around the world to follow free trainings online from the comfort of their homes.
Togethernet 24h offered training for individual, organisational and entrepreneurial development for 24 hours straight. Some of the participants attended the training event for full 24 hours.
– The event offered interesting and engaging sessions back to back, I didn’t want to miss any of them. André Noël Chaker’s The Age of Imagination – How to Speak and Lead in the Post-Corona Era as well as Per Kristian Haakonsen’s The Art of Saying NO were particularly memorable. There’s no efficient time management without the skill of saying no, says JCI member Heidi Lehto, who attended all the sessions.
In between the trainings there were yoga and mindfullness sessions in order to keep the spirits high. During the 24 hours there was also a fireside chat often seen in business conferences, this time with an actual campfire streamed directly from the woods of Hämeenlinna, where lean methodology specialists Juha Ketola and Simo Engbom talked about the history and applications of lean methods.
– This corona crisis and the restrictions offered JCI members an unexpected possibility to organise this large global event. JCI Finland has received so much positive feedback on the professional execution and the sense of community we were able to create amongst the participants all around the world. I am so proud of the project team who pulled this together in less than four weeks, rejoices the President of JCI Finland Michaela Palmberg.
